Students’ Progress Reports
- Students need to make two-week progress reports/plans every other week with the “SMART” principle:
S……….Specific
M………Measurable
A……….Achievable
R……….Realistic
T……….Time-bound
- Students need to summarize their works done within one year. The (first) annual progress reports are written in Mandarin. It not only helps students summarize their works but also gives them a chance to write a long report (for the first time). Directly writing a thesis without practicing is like playing out of one’s league (越級打怪). The structure of the annual progress reports should include:
- Several different small projects may be done within the year. It is hard to make a “single story”. However, there can be many small independent stories in the annual progress report. Therefore, one can have several sections describing different works. In each section for each story, there should be:
(a) What did you do?
(b) Why did you do it? it may include background or introduction in a long report.
(c) How did you do it?
(d) What’s the result?
(e) Discussion. You may explain or discuss anything when you conducted the project.
(f) Future works (if necessary).
(g) conclusion.
- The thesis will be written in English.
